After a morning spent gliding along on cross-country skis, legs already a bit worn but motivation still high, I finally took advantage of a break in the weather.

Due to the weather we had to reign in our ambitions. Finally a trip up to Allevard, 40 minutes from home. Road were clear to resort. We parked at the bottom at the Grand Paul lift.

We set out from Lyon at 6am and arrived just after 8. We had expected more traffic, we were always with cars on the way up but things were moving. None of the snowmaggedon of the last weekend.

I left a little late, but I wanted to try out the new bike path between Crolles and Tencin.

Christmas day potter around the Allevard pistes. The Caran main lift was closed so we couldn't access the main bowl. The rest of the open slopes were in good condition.

I had to go to the 7 Laux ski resort as I had something to pick up. I decided to arrive early and do a small ski tour.

Cycling in the Alps is starting to get depressing. The PR at the Col d'Hurtières belongs to a certain Colin Savioz on Strava, 24 minutes. I took 50 for 700m over 8km.

I've done ski touring from Theys via les 4 chemins twice, so I know that the road is tarmac as far as the crossroads.

The ski resort of Chamrousse had decided to open the main gondola lift for the May bank holidays.

Traditional end of season at les Arcs. We had monster snow fall a week ago but no sign of it now with lots of bare slopes.
