Description

Due to the weather we had to reign in our ambitions. Finally a trip up to Allevard, 40 minutes from home. Road were clear to resort. We parked at the bottom at the Grand Paul lift. A specialty of Allevard seems to be chair lifts that stop for ages without reason which we saw a number of times during the afternoon. Conditions on the blue runs were excellent. The red from the Clarans was a bump run and not easy to ski. The very steep Combe run was excellent, from the top it is impressive, over 35 degrees. Lifts were not too busy, max 5 minutes wait but you had to be careful on piste at pinch points. We did a bit of off piste - on shallowish slopes, powder was very heavy.

Conditions

Some low cloud especially later, sun partially obscured by low cloud. Not cold. Pistes had loose powder, steeper pistes had developed bumps with fresh snow. Avalanche risk 3/5.
