Col du Saint SaturninA quiet col close to Chambery. The col is marked by the Croix de Bon SecoursOn the North Side, start at Chambery le Haut. Climb is 1.5km long with the main section around 7%.

Took the Montee de Choulans from Perrache, hard at first but it went by a flat I wanted to look at. Pleasant on top of Fourviere, 4C cooler. Descent always sporty due to poor 1970s braking.

First time out in shorts this season. Rode up to the Fourviere where there was a clear view of Lyon and pre-alps and even snowy alps just beyond.

Hill repeats largely at threshold, took in the climb to la Croix Rousse although need to find a better way down.

I decided to attack the Fourviere hill from a different angle. Ride down the Rhone to the Confluence and then climb via la Mulatiere (the mule?) along a balcony road called the Chemin de la Fontaines.

Fourvière is the hill that dominates the center of Lyon to the west on the right bank of the Saône river in the 5th arrondissement of the city.
