I decided to attack the Fourviere hill from a different angle. Ride down the Rhone to the Confluence and then climb via la Mulatiere (the mule?) along a balcony road called the Chemin de la Fontaines. Not a car on this road it is was like being out in a country village somewhere in the south of France. Then a short climb up to the "village" of St Just before a long, fast descent to the Gorge du Loup (Wolf's Throat). The road has a wide cycle path but I took it easy as there were some roads entering from the right. I climbed to Fourviere mountain via the Fort de Vaise before dropping back down to the Saone to ride back to the office. A nice urban training route without too much traffic. Will combine with la Croix Rousse next time.
A pleasant high of 21C at midday.
