Chablais

Ski Areas > Northern Alps > Chablais

The Chablais are situated to the east of Geneva, bordered by Lac Leman (Geneva) and the Arve river and the mighty Mont-Blanc. The area can be divided into eleven regions which broadly represent the local mountain architecture: Billiat, Enfer, Grange, Tavaneuse, Oche, Chauffé, Cornettes, Chésery, Hauts Forts, Bossetan and the Dents Blanches.

The area is home to a number of world class ski resorts: The Portes du Soleil links 14 French and Swiss resorts including Avoriaz, Abondance, Chatel, Montriond, Morzine and Les Gets and with a claimed 650km of pistes offers one of the largest linked domains on the planet. Since Flaine was acquired by the Compagnie des Alpes it has been undergoing a refurbishment programme and there is a project to create a second 2,500 bed satellite resort in the next few years in conjunction with the SAG - Societie d'amegement Arve-Giffre and the Canadian group Intrawest.
