Ski-Areas > Northern Alps > Haute-Savoie (74) > Chablais > La Môle - Normal Route
From the car-park follow the forest trail towards the Petit Môle (1534m). The track makes a long traverse to the north before returning to the south then a couple of zig-zags before reaching a collection of chalets at the 1500m. Continue up a ridge oriented to the South-West to reach the east ridge which you follow to a metal cross (only the upright was present in January 2008) at 1861 meters. The real summit is further along the ridge to the West. Note the ridge is usually corniced to the north, do not approach the edge.
The open south-west face offers a lot of possiblities. The skiing is between 25-30 degrees. At the col before the chalets turn right to rejoin the track.

A before work trip with Agnes and Bruno. We set out at 6.30 with our head torches blazing the trail. There was about 5cm of fresh snow overnight and good snow cover from 1500 meters but skiable down to the car-park. We reached the Petit Mole a little after 7am and the Summit at 7h45. There was a brisk and cold southerly wind at the summit so we wasted no time in getting ready to ski down via a valley directly below the summit. The main slope had about 3-5cm of powder on a breakable wind crust and the valley had the most acceptable snow. I had to ski "windscreen wiper" turns to cope with the conditions. At the Petite Mole we found 30cm of fresh powder on a hard base which was much nicer to ski.
The slopes seemed stable despite the risk 3 avalanche rating.
