The ski resort of La Mongie is situated in the Haute-Bigorre area of the Hautes-Pyrénées department in the Pyrénées region. It is part of the Domaine Du Tourmalet ski domain. The lift served area extends from 1800 metres to 2500 metres. There are 100 km of lift served runs. There are 15 km of cross country trails. The resort features a snowpark.

Travel

Nearest Airport(s): Tarbes Lourdes Pyrénées (20km http://www.tarbes-lourdes.aeroport.fr, Toulouse Blagnac (170km)

Ryanair fly from Stanstead or Bristol to Pau, which is 100km or a 1hr 15 min drive

Road: Autoroute A64 "La Pyrénéenne": from Biarritz: Exit 12 - Tarbes Ouest, from Toulouse: exit 14 - Tournay.

Rail: SNCF mainline station at Tarbes then bus to Bagnères de Bigorre - la Mongie. or Eurostar London Paddington to Lordes SNCF via Paris and hire a car from the Car hire shops in the station.

la Maison d'Hoursentut, A Stunning family run hotel 10 mins from La Mongie Village, well priced, spaciouse rooms with excellent catered option. Great Host in Vincent who is a wealth of Knowledge on the area, piste and mainly of Piste. Great setting.

Restaurants and Bars

Le Schuss Grill, La Mongie Village excellent traditional food, fast service, very friendly staff and an excellent well priced Plat du Jour.

La Mammas restaurant, La Mongie village, excellent wholesome food, good value, try the Planche Pyrenee for great value.

Stéphane is one of the stars of the La Mongie backcountry scene but remains a very friendly and open guide. He also organises heliskiing trips to Russian and the former Soviet Union states.
