Off Piste Routes

The resort of Les Contamines Montjoie offers some some excellent off-pistes, in particular some between the pistes skiing ideal for people making their first tracks off the open and secured runs. It is recommended that you go either with a specialist ski school group or a guide. There are itineraries on the Contamines and Hauteluce side of the mountain. These are open, ideal for snow boarders with tree lined runs further down the mountain although respect wildlife in wooded areas.

l'Aiguille de Roselette

From the Aiguille de Roselette you ski down to Hauteluce. Superb views and gentle slopes but not without danger of slab avalanches below the Aiguille. Make sure you are equipped with a beacon, probe and shovel and ask the piste patrollers for advice or take a guide. From the top of the Bûche Croisée chair cross to the other side of the mountain and traverse to your left for around 100 meters under the Aiguille de Roselette before turning your skis or board downill to Hauteluce. The itinerary is relativel flat at the end.

The Signal

Gentle Descent from the Signal to the bottom of the Bûche Croisée chair. The slopes normally stabilize quite quickly.

There are other runs in the Aiguille Croche/Verelay sector and under the Nant Rouge chair. These slopes are avalanche prone.
