Finally the couloirs d'Estagnol can be accessed from the Font Frède lift. There are a number of itineraries varying between 30 and 50 degrees. You'll need to check them out from below to decide which are practical. There are frequently large avalanches in these couloirs. One is a marked black piste.

Porté-Puymorens is a village of just over 100 permanent residents. The terrain suits experts and beginners alike. Many of the routes mentioned in this article are extremely difficult and are suitable for expert off piste skiers. Some of the couloirs are narrow and not ideal for snowboarders. This is a mountain environment and the groups should carry the usual security gear of shovels, probes and avalanche transceivers. Telemark Pyrénées in Ax les Thermes can hire safety and ski equipment.
