A little afterwork to ski the Cords Passage, a relatively secret descent off the very popular Chamechaude mountain. I stopped at the first step about 80 meters below the final summit. Skied down the south side of the plateau in relatively light untracked powder.
60cm of fresh snow fell the day before. Avalanche risk 3. Mainly risk of purges in the afternoon on West facing slopes and the route is known for this in the Folatiere area so I passed through quickly and took the less exposed "Lapin" or "Cordes" pass on the descent. Good powder on the plateau as it is less sun exposed. Heavy powder below the Cords pass. Tracked snow on the ski slopes. The Lapin was filled in. Lower down the snow was more sun exposed and heavy.
