I'd heard that la Feclaz was largely open so motivated myself for a morning trip up. I arrived before 9.30, good as people were only just starting to arrive.

Started off on the south plateau. Snow was ok, a bit bare down at the far end where the black was closed but all skiable with no problems.

This was going to be my first nordic ski marathon. I'd skied the distance or more for fun but this was in competition and I'd always skied when the conditions were good. Not so much for this Sunday.

I had to drop junior off at 9am so not much time so I thought la Feclaz would be an idea. In the end 10am was a bit late.

I didn't set off with any clear ideas but the aim was to ski around for a couple of hours and do a bit of distance My idea was to warm up on the shorter, inner "loipe" and work outwards.

Final nordic skiing session of the winter, probably. At least in resort. La Feclaz closed yesterday and I'd hoped things would still be okay for skiing today.

I'd heard conditions were very good at le Feclaz still on the trails and that the resort were preparing the trails up to the 12th April despite being officially closed.
