I had initially considered heading up to Chamechaude, the highest summit in the Chartresue, but the avalanche bulletin (Thursday and Friday), combined with poor visibility and continued strong winds

Return to the Plan des Hotonnes. It is a pretty flat ski area and you don't really have any long runs like some other small ski areas. Great for families. However no stones this time compared to 2023.

Snow is back. I heard that le Bessat, around 65km from Lyon, was open but wasn't sure about the snow. In fact pistes were well prepared, especially on the main trail.

Short tour of the Manival to please the tot. Very humid weather in the valley but fresh as soon as you climbed a bit.

I always come up to les Saisies at the end of the season and always end up a bit disappointed as the snow is rarely good, or it goes off very early in the day.

Overview Les Contamines-Montjoie is a ski resort in the French Alps. It straddles the Mont Blanc and Beaufortain mountain ranges.

I parked in the new parking lot. It took me 5 minutes to find snow. Some people parked at the Betta or even higher but in theory it is banned to use the road before the 31 March.

I'd tried to ski the Royale back in 2019 but sections were closed due to lack of snow. Well it was the end of the season.

First nordic ski of the season. Basically did a return along the piste to the Col de la Republique.

A return trip to Hawaii (a surf spot on the Rhone river) along the river towpath. Once on the gravel hard going as the heavy rains of September have left a lot of ruts and gravel.
