The ski resort of Beuil - Les Launes is situated in the Alpes Maritimes department in the Southern Alps region. It is part of the Valberg-Beuil ski domain. Including Valberg the lift served area extends from 1430 metres to 2100 metres. There are 90 km of lift served runs. There are 21 km of cross country trails. A days skiing including Valberg cost 24 in the 2005-2006 season.
The ski area of Beuil Les Launes proper is split over two villages: les Launes situated at 1550 meters and Beuil, slightly lower at 1400 meters. The ski slopes tend to be calm due partly to the lack of chairlifts, the runs are served by seven drag lifts, and the attractions of nearby Valberg. The ski runs are sunny and have a charm of their own, winding throw woods and passing by small churches and hamlets. It is possible to stop at some of these to eat at midday.
The link over to Valberg involves some pushing. Beuil is the place to go for snow shoes, cross country and Nordic skiing with a number of marked trails and itineraries. The runs are arranged around the north facing slopes under the Plateau St Jean. We did not explore extensively, although the snow on piste was very good during our stay even down at 1400 meters. It would probably be possible to avoid the flat return to Valberg by cutting directly across to the Eguilles pistes.
Beuil was one of the first villages in the Alpes-Maritimes to install a téléluge towards the end of the 1930s. The attractive village is typical of the region. Les Launes is the neighbouring village.
Beuil is the starting point for the long ski tour from the Cians Bridge to the summit of the 2800 meter Mt Mounier.
