Ski-Areas > Southern Alps > Alpes de Haute-Provence (04) > Val d'Allos > Allos - la Foux
The ski resort of Allos - la Foux is situated in the Val d'Allos area of the Alpes de Haute-Provence department in the Southern Alps region. It is part of the Espace LumiƩre ski domain. The lift served area extends from 1800 metres to 2600 metres. There are 230 km of lift served runs. There are 20 km of cross country trails. The resort features a snowpark.
A highlight of the Val d'Allos is the pretty fortified village of Colmars, part of a defensive chain built during the 17th century. The road pass to Pra-Loup is closed during the winter and indeed forms one of the pistes.
Located at the top of the remote Val d'Allos this resort is linked with Pra Loup. The lift installations are ancient and in 2000 an old vandalised colony de vacances dominated the village like a Soviet nuclear reactor. This has now been partially demolished and the carcasse turned into luxury flats.
End of an Era, or Not?
The slopes over towards Pra-Loup offer the most challenging skiing although there is off-piste possibilities below the main telecabine.
