The Voodoo is a Black Diamond Havoc that has spent a month at Weight Watchers. By some kind of witchcraft BD has managed to cut the weight by 300 grammes per pair but this sleight of hand comes at the expense of less torsional rigidity. This may not be of great importance to backcountry skiers, some may even prefer a less rigid ski (the longitudinal stiffness is the same) although it might provide less edge hold on steep and hard slopes - although that is not really in the programme of fat, shaped skis anyway. At 3.3kg per pair in 175cm it is still no featherweight tourer but we could see it performing for mid-winter hut-to-hut trips maxing out at 1500 meters per day where the extra flotation would be useful when carrying a heavy pack.
