Hard to believe that not so long ago the Havoc was described as a big mountain superfat ski. These days it is firmly in the upper end of the mid-fat Backcountry Freestyle category. The twin tips give a nod and wink to the park but the ski is at home in soft snow and mixed conditions and with improved torsional stiffness for the 2007-8 season can hold an edge on hard snow. The raised tail helps with turn release in narrow couloirs and also to backward landings and riding. The overall size means it needs a rider who is firmly in control to get the best out of it but if you fit the bill it is a light and throwable ski.
At 3.6kg in 175cm the ski is light enough to tour, although not as light as the new Black Diamond KiloWatt which probably reflects the beefier construction of the Havoc, designed to take a pounding on tail landings etc.
