Why not ski from work along the large bike paths of the Innovalley. Well no good reason plus I commute on them and there is hardly anyone who uses the paths which are both wide and well maintained. I skated out on the path that runs between the science park and the highway. It is a bit noisy with cars. It is about 3km to Botanic where I looped around through the bus station and back to the Ch. des Chartreux which climbs on a nice 3.5% slope up to Montbonnot. You can Skate 2 (V2) all the way up. At the top the descent is fairly gentle past the top of the Air Force campus before taking the Ch. de la Croix Verte back into the park. A bit wide cycle path takes you down to the Inria "cruise liner" building where the Av Jean Kuntzmann takes you back to the cycle paths. Kuntzmann set up the local Computer Science university in 1960.
The climb is ideal, about 5 to 6 minutes of higher intensity without being too steep, you can V1, V2 or whatever up it.
Clean paths which are generally in good condition, no big kerbs and smooth tarmac.
