A bit of spring crust skiing... on New Year's day. Refreeze was pretty good with perhaps 5-10cm of refrozen snow. The climb was fairly hard work, although the snow was continuous there were some sections where it was only wide enough to pass with parallel skis. A lot of peds had climbed up and skiing was not always easy, is it ever on a 10-12% slope? On the descent a huge number of walkers not leaving much room for skiers and always grumpy about having to move out of the way, lots of dogs too.
Mix of ice and slush on the road to the Charmant Som. Crust skiing at the summit, climb to pt1772 and a little tour around Charmant Som. Pistes have been repaired in the Col de Porte area.
