The Jura is having another YoYo season with areas below 1200 meters really struggling. The plateau de Retord was down to 2 pistes last weekend but saw a few cms of snow on Thursday and after preparing pistes managed to get most of the area open on Saturday but the pistes at the plan des Hotonnes really suffered in the sun.
Higher up and the skiing was good. I was on classic skis and a bit slow today after a difficult and tiring week. I decided to cut the end by taking the Charpy link but the green piste lower down was not really skiable.
About 10cm of snow fell at le plan des Hotonnes but "it quickly gets better" assured the pisteur. This was true and about 1km out of the resort the snow. Still not much depth, which meant some of the pistes had a nasty slope to them. Return green at the plan des Hotonnes was unskiable, it had not been repisted and was frozen ruts and grass! I cut across the fields at one point on the crust.
