A trip with the Grimpe. The weather didn't look promising in Grenoble. After heavy rain on the road snow started at Beaufort. We parked lower down than les Maisonettes at la Frasse. There was about 30cm of fresh more or less directly on the ground. We followed tracks as far as le Clou then broke trail to pt 1940 on the east face of the Roche Plane where we stopped following a whoumph from higher up the slope. A guided group continued up a bit further but taking a safer ridge route.
Good skiing on the way down. Cold powder on a firmish base to 1400m then heavy powder. The base was non-existent below 1150m.
Weather: Snow above Beaufort (750m).
Access: Road snow covered from Areches.
