Vertical Climbed: 750 meters (2,461 feet)
Avalanche Risk: 2
Snowline: 1,220
Weather cleared around 5pm and as it had stayed cool it seemed like a good chance to check out the fresh snow and revisit the west face and bowl of the Bec Charvet. The climb was a bit tricky due to the quantity of snow still on the Bec Charvet which means some steep traverses although not exposed. There is still a huge amount of snow around although the bottom of the road is beginning to get a bit thin. Still possible to cut through the woods above 1300 meters for a more interesting descent and faster climb.
Interesting how many people come this route guided by their GPS expecting the col to be open. One guy couldn't believe his eyes tonight and spent ages staring from GPS to snowbound road.
