Barry had never done a 100 miler. I don't make a habit of them but I had an idea of something that would not be too hard climbing wise. Ride out on the right bank of the Isere river to the lac du Bourget than around the lake. We set off at 7.30am, this was before Barry's retirement and he could still get out of bed in the morning. The aim was to actually make it back without picking up the train in Aix or Chambery so we road at endurance pace. Close to 7 hours moving time for an average of a respectable 24km/h.
11C in the morning, mid 20s for the return. Not too warm for mid August.
