Tour behind the houses. First of all climbed to the Rock of Champ Bertin - a huge stone in the fields behind Bernin. You can boulder and climb on this rock which is about 20 meters high.

Climb the left bank of the Manival stream following a good jeep track to the to the Manival Forest Cabin (open, unguarded) at 870m. The track is very steep for 50 meters.

A short tour to test out my spiked winter mountain bike tires. After the source du Sanglier the snow was too deep to cycle.

Missed the turn to the top of the ski lifts at the col de Marcieu. Instead took an interesting looking trail that climbed steeply but had a good surface.

Initially I set out for the whole tour but it started raining - thunder in November.

This route is in the Chartreuse Regional Park behind the small town of Crolles about 20km north of Grenoble. It forms a dumbell.

A gentle ride through the valley with a return along the foothills, autumn is here and they say snow in the mountains tomorrow.

A short circuit to explore some of the tracks between Crolles and la Terrasse but generally staying in the valley.

Despite a persistent cold I wanted to take advantage of this wonderful autumn day. Nothing difficult. Superb countryside with the Chartreuse and especially the Belledonne as backdrops.

Decided to give skiing a rest due to the poor refreezes over the last couple of days and get the MTB out for a 28km route starting at the house and going down the Gresivaudan valley towards la Terrace
