Same as last year but in the reverse direction. I was looking for another pass but it doesn't seem that the road is surfaced. The weather has been unsettled and it didn't look good reaching Omegna. The climb up from Omegna is not hard, things start to get a bit more serious when you turn onto the Arola road but the only really steep section is 1km out of Arola. It is better riding this way around as you have a gentle descent all the way to Borgosesia. On the climb over to Orta I decided to make my life difficult by trying to take a back road, first the wrong way to the village of Romagnasco - no real interest then by the very steep Via Orlonghetto climb.
Not too hot on the col, a bit of rain here and there, lake weather
