Description

Last Collet d'Allevard of 2019 and first of the season. We just went for a couple of hours intensive skiing thanks to the excellent Allevard lift pass system. It was painfully cold at altitude. Not that many people around, surprising but maybe due to the French strikes stopping people getting away this Christmas. I'm just getting over a throat infection so not skiing too much was good. A few pistes were closed - they'd got a bit blitzed by the rain but enough skiing for us.

Conditions

It has rained to 2600m leaving drainage channels in the snow (off piste) which are like skiing corrugated iron roofing. Ok where the sun has softened them a bit but uncomfortable otherwise. Snow is either very hard refrozen or crusty lower down. Cold wind. Generally very good on piste.
