Today’s outing took me to La Féclaz, in the Bauges, better conditions compared to l’Arselle yesterday. The snow was faster, more consistent, and overall better to ski.
The domain is now quite limited, with only the Plan Goy, Cavale, and Creux Froid trails open, covering a mix of green, blue, and red pistes. Still, enough to put together a decent session.
I started with a loop of Plan Goy. It opens with a fairly steep climb before easing into more rolling terrain. Early on, a couple of club skiers were eager to get past on the uphill, only to tangle and crash into each other, a good reminder that patience often pays off, I'd pulled fully to one side leaving enough room. They waited for a wider section before passing, and from there we more or less leapfrogged each other: stronger than me on the climbs, but I’d reel them back in on the flats.
The atmosphere on the trails was a bit mixed. As often in these late-season conditions, there were quite a few club skiers around, some moving fast, others perhaps a little too eager to push through.
For the second loop, I headed onto Cavale. The track there felt less well prepared, likely due to heavier traffic, so I didn’t linger and instead finished on Creux Froid. A good call, a smooth, fast green run where I could finally let the skis run a bit.
All in all, a really enjoyable session, with noticeably quicker conditions and a good rhythm once on the right tracks.
