Description

The ski resort of Gaschney is situated in the Haut-Rhin department in the Vosges region. The lift served area extends from 990 metres to 1280 metres. There are 20 km of lift served runs.

History

The Hohneck - Colmar ski club drag at le Gaschney was built in 1954 at the foot of the Petit Hohneck and was one of the first ski lifts in the Munter Valley and the Vosges massif. The lift was build by Pomagalski and electrified in 1967. The lift can carry 760 skiers per hour and takes 4 minutes to cover the 278 vertical meters.

Off Piste Routes

Petit Hohneck South Ridge

From the top of the (1289m) ski runs on the Petit Hohneck follow a the ridgeline (fence) which descends to the south then turns slightly to the east. Pass to the left of the buildings at Schiessroth and follow a clearing to the T junction at Mohrenloch (977m). From here, snow permitting you can turn north-east and follow the fields to the D310 to a hairpin at 831 meters. Either hitch back to the resort or walk up the road 200 meters to follow a zig-zag trail through the forest to le Gaschney (don’t forget your climbing skins).

It is also possible to join the bottom of the Petit Hohneck drag directly from Schiessroth and these slopes are popular with the local riders. Also look at Hohneck off piste for other possibilities such as the Schaeffertal and couloir Dagobert. The Hinterschallern drag at Gaschney can be reached via the GR531.
