Chalet de la Tovière
We rode the Skirail to Tovière and noticed that there was not a single track on the popular Familiale or Family South Run, such good fortune at midday was not to be passed up. This run is a good, off-piste way, to get back from Tignes down to la Daille. It is some 450 meters of vertical down to the Tommeusses chair. Being sunny it can get crusty as we found later in the week, so it is best attempted after recent snowfall, being aware of the risk of avalanches on the steeper sections. We headed down to the old farm buildings where we picked up the end of the Vallee Perdue (Lost Valley). This was a rare chance for perfect between the trees powder skiing before the inevitable hordes arrived to track everything out. A fast days skiing and we were still back at the Tuffs chalet for lunch.
