The ski resort of Termignon is situated in the upper Maurienne valley in the Savoie department in the Northern Alps. There are 35km of downhill ski pistes with large runs winding through valleys in the upper sections of the domain, tree lined skiing between 1400 and 2000 meters and a beginners area close to the village which has snowmaking. The lift served area extends from 1300 meters to 2500 meters giving 1100 meters of vertical. However the highest spot in the community is the Grande Casse at 3852 meters.

There are a couple of chairlifts, one high speed and four drags. New lifts will be built in 2007 as part of the Val-Cenis extension. The ski area offers fantastic views over the Dent Parrachée, the Gaciers of the Vanoise national park, the Grande Casse and Grand Roc Noir. The best runs are the Grande Combe and Grand Coin in good weather. There is the possiblity of between the piste skiing. The Lac and Sanglier blue runs will appeal to intermediate skiers. There are 40 km of cross country trails between 1300 and 1400 meters altitude so they are pretty much snow sure during the winter and early spring. The trails follow the woods by the river Arc. Nordic skiers and snowshoers can cross into other areas by the Chemin de Petit Bonheur.
Termignon is a traditional Maurienne village with around 400 permanent inhabitants. The ski resort is relatively recent. Permission to develop the ski area was only granted in 1985. There is a project to extend the ski domain into the environmentally sensitive combe de Cléry and link to nearby Val-Cenis. Construction of new lifts is expected to start in 2007.
Nearest Airport(s): Sollières (5km) - private planes only, Chambery 130km (1h30), Turin 105km (1h30) via Fréjus tunnel (toll).
Road: A43 to the Maurienne valley (direction Turin) -> exit 30 to Col du Mont Cenis -> N6
Rail: Modane train station. Bus access is from Modane train station.
The rental accommodation has expanded a lot recently due to tax breaks offered under the ZZR (zones de revitalisation rurale). There are now 2000 rental beds however the new buildings have been described as out-of-place with the rest of the village. The village has kept its bucolic charm, cheese making including Beaufort and local specialty Bleu de Termignon. You can also see cows in their winter stables.
Besides rental apartments there is a 2 star hotel and the Para gite d'etape. There are also 2 star heated caravans.
Creperie and Pizzeria. The view over the Vanoise glaciers from the Arolle high-altitude restaurant is magnificent.
The resort has a creche facilities for babies from 3 months old and baby sitting service. There is a grocers and bakers. There are also sport shops. The nearest doctors is at Val-Cenis. There is a cashpoint in the village.
Only include guides and instructors who cater for off-piste or backcountry. Please specify whether they take snowboarders.
