Saint-Hilaire du Touvet is perhaps better known as one of the top paragliding centres in Europe. Thanks to a funicular railway people can rapidly climb 600 meters to the plateau de Petites Roches and hurl themselves off the sheer rockface landing in the Gresivaudan valley below. The little ski resort of Saint-Hilaire du Touvet is situated in the Chartreuse area of the Isère department in the Northern Alps region.
The lift served area extends from 1000 metres to 1450 metres. There are 10 km of lift served runs. There are 29 km of cross country trails.

Okay the off-piste is limited. The woods between the piste are quite dense and you really need good fresh snow to ski them.

You can include a short description of any accomodation along with a link.
Due to the paragliding connection the area is quite well served for bars and restaurants.
Right at the bottom of the pistes is the Grange aux Loups which serves regional specialities.
There is an Ecole du Ski Français in the resort. What better place for kids to learn to ski?
Held in the autumn the Icarus Cup is the biggest para and handgliding competition in the world.
