Rossignol has moved on from its Freddy Kruger throat slitting graphics that proved such a nightmare in the politically correct American market last year. The Scratch BC is no longer a lean-mean killing machine but has bloated from 122-90-115mm to 128-98-121mm. If the exploding head graphic is anything to go by Freddy has moved on from knife tipped glove to 12 gauge pump-action. The increase in waist is most noticeable on groomers where it needs more effort to carve turns. In the BC it is really a twin-tipped freeride ski and really lets rip in high-speed wide turns. The old Scratch BC is still available under the name Scratch Sprayer BC.
Nightmare on Rossi Street
The 2005-2006 Scratch BC has thirty-degree sidewalls to save weight and make for faster edge to edge speed. There are two binding points, central for freestyle jibbing and back for off-piste all-mountain ripping - carving pow and hucking cliffs. The ski is the bleeding edge Rossignol THC Hybrid core made from Isocore for light weight and liveliness, wood for quick response and microcell to absorb shocks and vibrations when landing.
