Dynastar Legend 4800
The Dynastar Legend 4800 inherits much of the Vertical 4x4 and Intuitiv's excellent capabilities both on and off piste. The construction is fairly light but more rigid than the older models. It probably takes the crown from the Atomic R9 in terms of performance but is slightly heavier for the same length. It can be mounted with touring bindings to provide an excellent tool for moderate day or multiday tours.

We found the ski offered much improved grip on icy snow compared to the older 4x4. The 17m radius in 178cm means that it will quickly reach its limits on steep and icy terrain such as couloirs. The ski uses a wood core and sandwich construction so is more robust than touring skis using cap construction. We also liked the metal protection around the spatula, great for those knocks and bumps when ski touring or off-piste skiing. The ski was light, tolerant and manouverable and excellent on short radius turns and carving. It lacked some stability at speed and in crud.

The 4800 is a good ski for the steeps
