Vertical Climbed: 500 meters (1,641 feet)
Vertical Descended: 498 meters

Description
From Omegna there is 420 meters of climbing over 6km giving an average grade of 7%. However the section from Germagno to the Alpe Colle is steeper, an average of 11% with ramps around 15%.
From Omegna follow the signs to Val Strona, at the top of a pleasant but fairly busy climb with a poor road surface take a right hand hair pin marked Germagno and Alpe Quaggione. The climb to Germagno is a nice even gradient of around 6 to 7% and not busy. At Alpe Colle take the short but steep climb to the Monastry. At the top there is a wooden cross with views over lake Orta and Omegna. Descend via Gattugno to make a loop. Caution the descent is steep and is hard on the brakes.
Trip Report
Last day of vacation so I wanted a nice tour with a bit of climbing. Amazingly managed a CR on the climb to Germagno. 24m14s, just one second faster! and a VAM of 675 m/h - not that impressive. Thankfully there was only 1km of super steep to reach the Alpe Colle. Tour makes sense this way round as the climb is less difficult and the sweeping hairpins below Germagno are pleasant to ride.
Cool, 18C, pleasant riding weather with lots of flies at the summit.
