Description

Description

One for the climbers. Views over the mountains and Lake Orta from the summit. The climb is through woodland so offers a lot of shade on a sunny day.

From the Via 4 Novembre (Omegna / Gravellona Toca road climb to Gattugro via some sweeping hairpins. The grade is not too steep; around 7%. Just after the village the road is a bit rough for a few meters then a 2km climb through woods at over 14% average. At Alpe Colla there is a bit of respite. Here you'll find a water fountain and a bar. However there are another 5km at 10%+ to reach Alpe Quaggione.

Trip Report

The section after Gattugro will make you regret every bit of pizza you ate! Afterwards the 10% gradient after Alpe Colla seems almost flat. Almost. Warm muggy morning with good views at the summit. Take care on the ride down, it is very hard on the brakes.

Conditions

Warm, dry
