Back up to the 7 laux, they'd opened the Oursiere lift but we ended up stuck on it for half an hour when it suffered some kind of breakdown. The pisteurs were a bit cagey as to what had happened. Piste skiing was generally excellent, we didn't ski much off piste and the lift breakdown cut into our overall ski time. No wind this week but more wintry and cold in the shade.
Bizarrely not many people around despite the more extensive terrain - they'd all gone to l'Alpe d'Huez which had traffic jams, lift queues the usual with 12000 visitors for the opening day.
Good piste conditions. Much better than 2 weeks ago with no stones on the runs. Off piste was very thin on south facing slopes; cold light powder on shaded aspects but with some rocks hidden by the new snow.
