Description

Route

From Valmaure climb the combe du Tepey on the left bank. At the Pierre Barme, around 1765 meters, take the valley to the right. At the flat section at 2500 meters turn directly north to reach the Selle du Puy Gris by a fairly steep final slope. Descent the north side of the pass via the glacier du Puy Gris then the combe des Roches to ski down the summer path to the Roches hamlet. About 15 minutes walk back to Valmaure.

Trip Report

We left from Les Roches around 8:30 a.m., it was a nice surprise to put on skis on at the start of the path, light snow, and thanks to the tracers on Friday we took advantage of the sun, at the bottom of the valley, before finding the fridge and the north wind in the last flat area before the slope under the pass. Not too many people on this side, but at the pass....it's the arrival of the sun peloton from the south!!! some cross the pass and descend down the combe des Roches and there you go, the valley is all tracked out, it's true that the powder was excellent, only the top is changeable, a little crusty with the wind with some beautiful patches of tricky ice under the fresh layer. Sustained wind at the pass which carries the snow to the southern slopes, large cornice in formation a short stretch on the way down to avoid scratching the bases. - Anny
