From the Pont des Cottaves (1111m) follow a trail on the right bank of the river to a clearing at 1150m (bottom of an old chair lift) then turn slightly SW to follow a ski piste that crosses the Charmant Som road at around 1450 meters. Cut across the lacets and continue on the open piste (Canaple) to reach the ridge at 1650. Turn N to reach the summit at 1703m. The descent has a number of steeper sections, about the same as a red ski run.
Sunday sk tour with Tot on snow shoes. About 20 cars at the car park but not too busy compared to the Col de Porte or Chamechaude. We rejoined the crowds for a minute or two as we cross the road to the Charmant Som, a long procession of sledgers, cross country skiers and snow shoers then peace again to the summit of the Canaple
20-30cm of fresh snow, windblown on the ridge, a bit heavy in the sun.
