Not great skating conditions. It seemed ok at 9.40 when I started (incidentally good timing to get up here) but even then my first run up the Outheran was 27 minutes compared to 18 minutes 4 years ago, day for day. What's that, around 50% slower. I think it is also a loss of fitness due to too much work and of course inevitable aging but I'll have to see under more normal conditions. I shouldn't have attempted the black which, unlike the Outheran where I could at least climb, was unskiable in a number of places due to soft snow. I was nearly twice as slow on the two big Montfred climbs. By the time I'd looped around and back to resort the main pistes had also softened up, you had to push on the downhills.
14C at the ski area at midday. Snow went off around 11am but even before I was pretty slow.
