I wanted to do a Grand Col but have tendonitis so this is the nearest thing within easy reach of the house. Had my 30x34 gears for the climb but even so the hard section was still hard - probably due to eating too many cookies. There is a section around 15% that seems to go on forever but probably because I was going so slowly. The descent was nice although the road at the top is narrow if you meet ascending cars, very common around mid morning on a weekend.
Quite warm, no need for a jacket for the descent. Roads in good condition apart from the gravel at the col which has got worse due to rain water run off. Still passable on a road bike.
