Vertical Climbed: 1,001 meters (3,284 feet)
Vertical Descended: 993 meters
Rating: 4
The route stars in Bellagio on the classic Ghisallo climb. The first few km are around 14% gradient. As the road flattens a bit (everything is relative) take a right turn to San Primo. The road ramps up again before flattening for a km then enters a series of hairpins to Piano Rianco. Here turn right, there is a steep ramp past a refuge then everything is a lot easier to the ski area.
Return via the same road or via Ghisallo.
Trip Report
As I started out I felt pain in my back. This got much worse the next day so I was lucky (or foolish) to climb to San Primo. After you leave the main road things are pretty quiet and the gradients not too crazy. A lot of people walking at San Primo. There is a bar/restaurant here but no real views. The ski area is small. They get good snow due to moisture coming off the lake, apparently.
Hot on the climb until the turn to San Primo, then a bit chilly. Roads in good condition.
