Hautes Alpes on Avalanche Alert

⚠️ Météo-France has placed the Hautes-Alpes department on yellow alert for avalanches from Friday 26 December 2025. The Queyras mountain range has been placed on risk level 4/5 in certain areas.

In the Queyras, and more particularly in the Abriès-Ristolas sector, the accumulation of snow over 24 hours on 25 December and during the coming night, combined with an east to north-easterly wind, will create significant instability in the snowpack.

These conditions will make mountain activities dangerous, particularly in the far east of the massif, where spontaneous fresh snowfall, either sporadic or in the form of large slabs, will occur. The passage of skiers and hikers will increase the risk of triggering avalanches.

As the avalanche risk is at its highest for outdoor enthusiasts, the Hautes-Alpes prefecture is calling for the utmost vigilance:

Be careful: get informed and don't hesitate to reschedule your trip!
