The idea was to do a bit of vertical in the weather window. Unfortunately the window slammed shut 1.5km from the col. The sleet/snow was so heavy I decided it would be foolish to go further. I put on my rain coat and U turn. Descent was ok except for the wet leaves under the trees which I was concerned about. VAM was not too bad at 783m/h although I didn't feel great, far too cold and wet even with long trousers and overshoes. 41,000 vertical meters for the year so far.
8C in the valley, 1C at around 1200 meters where I stopped. Heavy sleet.
