Vertical Climbed: 422 meters (1,385 feet)
Vertical Descended: 411 meters
This route is all front loaded. The first 3km climb 200 meters, things are then a bit easier, another 200m over 4.5km to bring the total distance to 7.5km with the descent just 1.5km (by the most direct route but this is a Strava mis calculation as they only use the horizontal distance and it is more like 8km climbing, 2.5km descent). The road surface is not too bad and there is not too much traffic. Route finding on the descent is a bit tricky. Basically head north from the Col but the tracks are not evident.
It was very hot today, even if a lot of the route is in the shade. The segment from la Boutiere to the Col was hard at the mid point - full sun and 10% ramps.
Hot, average of 28C but 30C at the col (36C on the south side!) Hotter than in the valley.
