I fancied covering 1000 vertical meters via Miasino this time as the initial climb to Armeno. After Armeno there is a long section over 15% to Cheggio then some even steeper sections - 16-17% above ! After my recent experiences on the Col de Tougnète it didn't seem to bad. I had thought about stopping at 1000 meters but was very close to the summit so pushed on. A lot of people at Mottarone and a lot of motobikes on the climb up. On the way down, after passing a couple of cars, I didn't see another person before Orta.
30 degrees at the col, slightly hotter in the valley but not much difference.
