Description

Vallouise offers 35km of cross-country ski trails which follow the valleys’ rivers and torrents. There are trails to suit all levels with three entry points at Les Vigneaux at the start of the valley, Vallouise in the heart and Pelvoux in a side valley.

At Vallouise and Pelvoux you’ll find cross country foyers where you can leave your bags, warm up, eat a picnic or get food as well as rest after your ski session.

Passes are mandatory to use the Nordic trails, they are on sale at the Chalet nordique in Vallouise, in the Tourist Information Points, in the sports stores and in the Bar du Rif in Les Vigneaux.

Trip Report

After skiing Serre Chevalier in the morning I thought I'd check out Vallouise's cross country ski trails. I'd not been in the valley for 30 years and never in the winter. In order not to drive too far I stopped at le Vignaux at the entrance to the valley. The pistes looked in good condition. A bit of meltwater here and there. Lack of snow on the climb after the Pont de Parcher. I didn't ski past the foyer but attractive loipe that follow the rivers, will have to return another winter. Fantastic Ecrins valley with stunning mountain peaks.

Conditions

Warm, snow fairly good still as the trails are in a valley. Lack of snow on sunny spots and a landslide - the pistes from le Vignaux are officially closed.
