Description

It has been quite a while since I've skied the main pistes at Chamrousse. Given how hard the snow was when I started - a lot of refrozen water rather than snow - I wasn't keen to tackle the descents in the forest to the south of the platea. Instead I toured around the plateau and climbs to the north. The pistes were a bit skittery in places and initially I had to be careful on the descents. A little bunch of skiers at 9am, most people seemed to arrive around 10ish - in time for the slush and stones.

One thing that is always annoying about Chamrousse are aggressive skiers. They seem to wait at the bottom of climbs and then try and catch and pass you, trampling on your skis and poles as they force their way past then stopping at the top. They should just try skiing around normally but I guess the Grenoblois have a lot of stress, or something?

Conditions

Not too cold. Pistes were hard/icy at 9am with some loose power on the climbs. Getting slushy in the sun by 10h30 when I left.
