Three skiers, missing since Wednesday afternoon in the ski resort of Cauterets have been found under an avalanche in an off piste sector of the resort. The three victims were from Bordeaux and Poitiers. The avalanche occurred between 1800 and 2000 meters altitude. There has been a significant thaw over the last 48 hours following fresh snow on Sunday and Tuesday.
The snowpack is described as "heavy" below 2500 meters with a number of spontaneous avalanches in the area. The risk was 3/5 (Considerable).
