Two Scottish skiers touring on Mont Buet at Vallorcine have been involved in a dramatic accident around 13h00. Reports vary but it appears one of the men was carried a considerable distance by either a small avalanche or cornice collapse. The victim was found in a state of cardiac arrest and despite the rapid intervention of the rescue services (PGHM) who heliported him to Sallanches hospital he did not survive.
The men were aged in the thirties. The avalanche risk was 2/5 in the area. According to the ANENA there have been 13 deaths in 11 incidents so far this season.
