I had thought about skiing in the morning but was worried with the long period of cold weather that the pistes would be too hard so instead arrived at 2pm. Okay the snow was soggy and sucky in the sun but I still think I made the right choice; at least as far as the downhills were concerned. Climbing wasn't too bad, but 10mins off my PR to the refuge. After that a bit of a slog to the Crete Luisard as skis really didn't glide well on the cold, shaded snow and due to the steepness of some of the ramps. Magic on the top with the views over the mountains. I don't like the climbing but it is worth it.
Warm. 6C at the Foyer. Sticky snow in the sun, either hard snow in the shade or cold snow that didn't slide well. In the end the sunny snow was maybe the easiest to ski. Lack of snow cover, good on the climb but some rocks showing here and there.
