To vary things a bit I took a new road over the Croix Rousse / Calluire et Cuire: the Montee du Petit Versailles, actually I thought it was the Montee de la Soeur Vially but I was on the wrong road. Both are uber steep. An average of 12% over 600m doesn't do the climb justice and there is an extremely steep right hand corner. I wasn't sure I would make it to the top but I did, somehow.
Then over the ridge of Calluire et Cuire to drop down to Fontaines sur Saone, famous for its historic car museum with Adoph Hitler's mercedes which an American general gave to the museum. The climb up to Mont Thou took 34m40 - a record for me and a nice VAM of 737 given the route du Genie is flattish (3%). 4m56 for the final climb to Mont Thou - looking back I did this in 4m05 in 2015 after a long ride but I was much fitter back then.
Sunny, not too hot and not too busy - no sports cars in the Mont d'Or. 10C at the summit of Mont Thou, 18C in town.
